5 Ways to Clean up The Environment
There is no escaping that the world is heating up, and not in a good way. The impact of climate change is affecting us all which is why it is so important for behaviours to change. As a manufacturer of cleaning products, we know that it takes a little bit of effort from everyone to make a difference to our future environment.
This month we hand over the blog post reigns to AF Account Manager Louise McKettrick to talk through her 5 ways to clean up the environment. Over to you Louise…
Welcome to my first blog, if you don’t know me, I’m Louise and have been working for AF for nearly 3 years providing sales support and opportunities to our customers in the office products industry. Over the past 3 years I have definitely seen a shift in buying behaviour, not only personally but within the industry and as a business we are on that journey with our customers too. Here are my 5 ways to clean up the environment with some AF tips thrown in the mix!
Reduce your waste
It goes without saying that reusing as much as possible saves unnecessary waste. When I think of food waste for example, I was blown away to find out that 4.5 million tonnes of food are thrown away per year by UK households. I have to admit that I have fallen guilty of this in the past but not now, now that I am perfecting my food prep! I save time, money and the environment.
Recycle information
I don’t know about you, but I always find myself looking for that recyclable alternative. I want to use less and buy less but without compromising on the result. When I talk about the result, I use AF cleaning as an example. Did you know that some of our long-standing flagship products are recyclable? PC, Screen, Phone and Isoclene tubs of wipes are all made from recyclable paper. No single use plastic in sight! Keep the convenience of cleaning with wipes and the same lasting quality, without the damage to the environment. Our customers stand by them so much so that we created refill versions to save even more plastic!
Look for alternative uses
This is one of my favourite ways to help the environment. You may have seen our Labelclene hack video on social media already but it’s fantastic for upcycle projects. For instance, glass drinks bottles come so in so many different shapes and sizes why not turn them into a decorative home accessory? Remove the label with Labelclene, add in some fairy lights and voila you have your very own calming lighting accessory.
Get out in nature
Getting outside in nature has an abundance of benefits to you and the environment. Ask yourself, do you ever fully appreciate the outdoors? I’m talking breathing in the smell of fresh air, listening to the birds and enjoying the surroundings. During lockdown I truly began to appreciate the outdoors and have made it my mission to scatter wildflower seeds every year to increase pollination. In addition to this the Ashby Park site also has several bird feeders for local wildlife and I have to say, I followed in AF’s footsteps and introduced my son to our new bird houses and the squirrel café feeders in our garden too.
Think of the bigger picture
It’s important to know that in an ever-changing world that things don’t change overnight. We are all in this journey together and by making little changes to everyday life all of these will have a bigger impact for us all. In terms of cleaning with AF, whether you choose washable cloths, refillable pouches of wipes or you choose to use AF for upcycling projects you can be sure that you’re heading in the right direction as an eco-conscious cleaner.
